This is an initiative to highlight the importance of caring for senior citizens & Orphanages who have been pushed to the brink of total neglect and apathy by this society. The team shall identify the places and gauge their immediate needs and also organize regular get together with these elderly people on every occasion to celebrate be it birthday or festivities or religious functions.

Activities Done


Spending time with the Kids and the old age people, singing & dancing with them, celebrating functions and birthdays with them, distributing sweets & snacks, dress and toys, playing games, mobilizing school fees for the orphan students, distributing school uniforms, stationeries and notebooks, Supplying medicines for the Old people, acting as a link between companies and the Old Age Home and fulfilling their requirements

Our Achievements

    a. Children’s Day celebrations through a painting competition wherein 320 children
        participated held on 9th November 2008 at St. Georges School

         i. The main theme was Dr. Kalam’s vision, Clean India, Green India and My Super hero

    b. Visited juvenile home to understand their needs and requirement and how to engage
        students to lead a normal life

         ii. Pongal celebrations at Juvenile home in the presence of senior IAS officers as part of
             entertainment and learning for children on 15th January 2009.

         iii. We had children from Gurukulam performing Karate and Villi Pattu

         iv. Mime performed by children from juvenile home and also Thapp Aattam

         v. Dance by SHG children

    c. Republic day celebrations at Gurukulam School, Kovalam, donated sports kit for the children

    d. Visited 3 children’s home in Chennai to study organization and also their requirements 
         catering to the children, referred them for regular weekend sponsors for food and other
         requirements

    e. Coordinating with marriages of our volunteers across Chennai in helping getting orphanages
        and old age homes be part of their celebrations

    f. donated sewing machine for Sadana on 3rd of May 2009

    g. Offered clothes to Fire victims at Choolaimeedu and Vysarpadi over last 2 months with
         support from other NGO’s working with the affected victims

Proposed Projects

  • Prepare the List of Orphanages, Child Homes and Old Age Homes in and around Chennai
  • Prepare the statistics of those homes like, their financial status, their requirements and their needs
  • Act as a bridge between corporate and these homes and fulfilling their requirements
  • Arranging competition to these kids to showcase their talents
  • Arranging picnics
  • Celebrating functions with kids and neglected old people
